Why Is Philadelphia Hosting This Convening?

The need for such a conversation is dire. As the second largest city for a majority diverse population, including 42.2% African American, Philadelphia should be leading the nation in Black owned businesses. Yet, we have the lowest black owned businesses per capita rate of any major US city, at 1.8 black owned businesses, per every 1,000 Black residents, this means we must do more, and we can start by spurring the conversation.
